The P90X workout video series is a highly advertised and yet very effective way to shed fat and gain muscle. However, this video series is not for someone who is just beginning a workout regimen. This workout is a very intense and high energy workout series that must be followed to gain the results that are seen on the television programs.
There are six videos in all along with a diet guide and some motivational tips that will allow the users to want to continue using the workout. A different set of muscles is focused on each day and that specific muscle is worked until it can no longer move in some cases. The workouts are one hour long and some feel like ten.
When the first program is inserted into the DVD player it is instantly obvious even by the credits that this is not your grandmas workout. Although Tony Horton does a wonderful job of trying to motivate the users to bring it, and stay focused while still maintaining the fat burning stamina that is needed for maximum results. This program is very intense and cannot be done by just anyone.
The very first workout is called chest and back. This workout will allow the user to do some push ups and pull ups working the back and chest until they are very sore. This being the first workout in the series is sure to make the muscles very fatigued. This fatigue will quickly become non existent after about the first two weeks of completion. Most people who have used this system say that they actually feel better once they have completed at least one week.
After day one is complete what most people will say is the most challenging of the videos occurs. This video is called plyometrics or also known as jump training. Jump training is just what it says you will jump until your legs feel as though you cannot jump anymore. Working mostly the quads, calves, and buttocks you will feel the pain in those area the following day for sure.
While following the routine for the next two days you will be asked to complete the kenpo part of the workout as well as the yoga. The kenpo part of the workout is a lot of kicking and boxing and is a lot of fun. A lot of users actually say that this is the most entertaining and rewarding part of the routine.
Although when Yoga is mentioned it seems that it would be a smooth and relaxing transition from some of the other options in this series. This workout is just as intense due to some of the positions that one is expected to be in and hold for a period of time that seems like eternity. The body does become longer and leaner with each completion of this video.
The motivation that comes along with this program is wonderful. Tony has brought back others who have completed the full ninety days and along with the completion has seen a total transformation in their bodies. These people were by no means obese to begin with, but the gain in muscle mass and the loss of excess fat are very evident.
