If you're going to get the most out of your trampoline, and ensure that it stays in good working order for many years to come, it's essential that you learn more about all the trampoline parts and accessories, and how they work together to provide you with a truly unique physical activity.
Most people are aware of the basic design of a trampoline, but just in case, here is a rundown of the essential parts and functions. The frame of the trampoline structure, which comes in many shapes and sizes, is usually constructed out of metal pipes and tubing. Other materials can be used, and often are in cheaper trampoline brands, but if you want the structure to last when stored outdoors, you need the frame to be made of weather resistant steel. Frames can also be modified to accept ladders and net enclosures to make them safer.
Attached to the frame is where you'll find the trampoline mats. These mats are made from synthetic materials that allow them to remain elastic even while stored outdoors in inclement weather. One of the most essential details of the mat is the ring that is sewn at regular intervals around the edges. These rings are what connects the mat, springs, and frame together, and if these pieces of hardware are sewn in carelessly, it's far more likely that you'll have a tear, or lose a ring altogether. Thankfully, if this happens, it's relatively easy to find a replacement mat.
That brings us to the next most important part of the trampoline design, the trampoline springs. The springs are the magic element that brings all the parts together, and makes the structure into a bouncing surface where you can have hours of enjoyable physical activity. The springs must be the correct size for the trampoline mats, and must be made of high quality galvanized steel. Be aware of cheap spring producers who will sell you springs that are more hook than spring. Remember that the more coils each spring has, the better bounce you're going to get when playing on the structure.
