The Benefits of Using a Pelvic Floor Toner

Until a few years ago, the only options for women with a weakened pelvic floor were to try to do "kegel exercises", which consist of a series of squeeze and release exercises or to have a surgical pelvic repair operation which, quite frankly, often gave variable results. However, it has been proven that using a pelvic floor toner can have quite dramatic results and this is regardless of the type used. Indeed, it has been shown that using any type of device gives better results than doing traditional kegels.

When Dr Arnold Kegel devised his now-famous set of pelvic muscle exercises, it was never intended that they be done on an empty vagina. Dr Kegel invented a somewhat crude version of a pelvic floor toner and found that this was necessary to aid women completing the recommended program. Since then, the message has been somehow diluted and women are now advised to complete an exercise program on an empty vagina.

In some ways, it's a little like a weightlifter trying to strengthen his arm muscles by simply lifting them up and down-Muscles work best against resistance-Fact!

Many women become disillusioned with traditional kegel exercises as they are often not quite sure whether they are doing them correctly. In addition, progress can be very slow even in the best of cases and this means that many give up.

The benefits of using a pelvic floor toner are multifaceted. Firstly, many toners allow you to chart your progress by having an adjustable spring type device. You can tell how much you are improving your muscle tone by how much you have to adjust the tension. Other devices, such as electronic pelvic floor toners, do the work for you. Their set programs almost guarantee success as these types of device deliver thousands of contractions within one short exercise session. Other devices, such as vaginal balls and barbells add a fun element to exercising and this is motivation in itself.
