Shane Carwin
Biography
Carwin and his two brothers were raised by his single mother, who was to gather all his son educations college. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Environmental Technology Western State College.
Carwin struggled to university, become twice NCAA Division II Wrestling National Runner-Up Heavyweight in 1996-7 and the NCAA II Wrestling Heavyweight National Champion in 1999. He also was two-time All-American in football state in the West.
Carwin became an engineer out of college and continues to work in this area while continuing his MMA career. Carwin is also a volunteer coach for the University of struggle of Northern Colorado.
Carwin has a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Nate Marquardt.
Mixed martial arts career
Carwin won his first eight fights by stopping the first round and became the Ring of Fire heavyweight champion before signing with the UFC. Carwin has been undefeated since then. He trains with Fight against submission of Jackson & The Grudge Fight Team. Shane is based in Denver, Colorado and Training Centre trains Grudge Top with MMA coach Trevor Wittman. Carwin is one of the two heavyweights in the UFC to bring 4XL gloves, the other being Brock Lesnar, although Shane gloves should be cut at the seams to make his hands in shape.
UFC career
Carwin made his UFC debut on the undercard of the UFC 84 against Christian Wellisch. He won the match by knockout in 44 seconds in the first round. Carwin followed with an appearance in Birmingham, England at UFC 89 against Neil Wain winning by KO Technology for 1:31 of the first round.
At UFC 96, Carwin has taken an important step in the competition when faced the former number one and the famous ace Jiu Jitsu Gabriel Gonzaga. Carwin scored a knockout with a right hand just after 69 seconds the first round.
Carwin was then set to face Cain Velasquez at UFC 104, with the winner getting a title shot against Brock Lesnar. However, UFC reconsider the Carwin fight and was confirmed to the title fight at UFC 106 November 21, 2009. The fight was then postponed until after Lesnar withdrew due to illness, with the UFC 108 has probably date. Lesnar then came out of this fight on October 26, and Dana White UFC 105 reported at conference post-fight press that Lesnar was too ill to participate.
With Lesnar should be absent during the first half of 2010 while recovering an intestinal disorder and subsequent surgery,
Carwin is scheduled to face Frank Mir UFC Heavyweight Championship for the interim on March 27, 2010 to 111 CFU. Carwin said on its website that Mir is a legend of the sport, and I would be honored to fight him. "
Personal life
Carwin has a wife and a son named Lani named Kamden a previous marriage. The couple had a daughter named Lexi in February 2010.
