Hands of Poker - Montana Poker
In any poker game, you will be hearing a lot of “hands”. Hands refer to the combination of cards that you are playing with and different hands have different values. There are traditional or standard hands of poker and there are also non standard ones. Generally, poker games only accept standard hands but it is quite common for house tournaments to have their own non standard hands.

Typically, the standard hands of poker include the straight flush, full house, four of a kind, straight, flush, three of a kind, two pair, and the standard pair. The straight flush is played with five cards of the same suit with ranks in sequential order. If you happen to have an ace, a king, a queen, a jack, and a ten of the same suit, you can play the royal flush which typically has the greatest value in a poker game.
You have a full house when you have three cards of the same rank off suit and two cards of the same rank off suit. The rank of the three similar ranked cards that you have determines the value of your hand. So you can have a full ace or a full two.
Four of a kind refers to a hand wherein you have four cards of the same rank and a fifth card which is referred to as the kicker. The kicker is usually irrelevant and the value of the hand is determined by the rank of the four similar cards that you have. The three of a kind has three cards of the same rank and two cards that serve as kickers.
These and the other standard hands of poker can be played anywhere but you must remember to ask if a certain game has non standard hands before you start placing your bets.
