Kung Fu TV Series – Did He Really Need To Penniless And Broke?
Remember the TV series Kung Fu starring David Carradine? Did you ever wonder, with all his spiritual knowledge and physical abilities, why it was so necessary for him to be so poverty stricken?
Okay, he made some vows to be free, without any attachment to selfish desires or worldly goods. So he walked around from place to place, wandering aimlessly. Sure, he had some adventures. And he kicked a LOT of ass during his "peaceful" wanderings. But imagine how much more effective he could have been to help people if he created a home for himself and let word-of-mouth bring truth-starved people to him! He could have easily formed an army of peace-loving people.
He seemed to be a fantastic guy, didn't he?
He always help people in need. His knowledge was deep. He expressed peace and love and respect. He lived with nature. And again, he could kick ass (in self defence, of course). The bad guys always had it coming. The Kung Fu TV series writers obviously had to incorporate some cool fighting scenes for entertainment purposes. Fair enough. The more Kung Fu fighting, the more people will watch the TV series.
But you have to wonder: Why was he always defending himself?
With all his wisdom, you would think he could have easily overcome the "bad guy's" aggression without using force. Sort of like the guy from Star Wars: "These aren't the droids you're looking for. Move along".
Usually, when a person is constantly being picked on, there's a good reason. Perhaps some people attract bullies. Whatever the reason, a person always attracts what they expect and feel they deserve. Once in a blue moon something unexpected happens, like a freak occurrence. Like getting struck by lightening. It happens. Something might fall off a roof and you just happen to be standing right under it, the wrong place at the wrong time.
Where would the Kung Fu TV Series guy be today?
In present day reality, we can easily agree that a person like the Kung Fu TV series guy would have a very easy time TODAY making money by helping and guiding people, and he could charge some serious money for his acquired experience and well-earned practical knowledge.
If he was here today, with the help of the Internet, it is pretty possible that he'd be quite wealthy in a very short period of time (and he could use the Internet to reach people, instead of doing all that dangerous walking from place to place) and without being broke all the time!
The Motto of this Story?
We all love a strong character, especially when this character selflessly helps needy people and never asks for anything in return. We all secretly fantasize about being the ultimate hero. The difficulty arises when we expect to give and give and give without receiving, receiving, receiving. If you give and expect nothing in return, you are in violation of Nature.
We all love these ultra good characters, especially the Kung Fu TV series guys, but let's be very careful not to let their Kunk Fu TV series personalities (and their god-like behaviour) sink into our subconscious minds. Being broke sucks. And giving without expecting to receive sucks even more!

Fight Scenes $20 In an intricately linked series of poetic, short tales set in a 1983 suburb, Greg Bottoms portrays his life as one of two “at-risk” boys as they attempt to learn how to be—and what it means to be—men. By turns funny, disquieting, and moving, Fight Scenes takes an unsparing look at juvenile disaffection and the dark side of white, working-class masculinity. By narrating his experiences with childhood buddy Mark, Bottoms shows how many of America’s young men learn to think about work, sex, weakness, violence, and themselves. In a pared-down, highly readable style that brings to mind the work of Raymond Carver, Sherman Alexie, and Denis Johnson, Bottoms has created a work of literature that shows how even the most accepted forms of “toughness” can have a damaging, disorienting, and finally dehumanizing effect on everyone, especially kids. |

First to Fight $36.67 Henry Mihesuah, a Comanche of the Quahada band, has led an ordinary modern American Indian life filled with extraordinary moments. Growing up in the 1920s and 1930s on his familys allotment outside Duncan, Oklahoma, Mihesuah was a member of a family of farmers who gave part of what they grew to black sharecroppers and often helped feed their poorer white neighbors. Never afraid of controversy and always the first to fight, Henry Mihesuah fell in love with and married a white woman and then served a dangerous tour of duty in the Marines in postWorld War II China. In the 1950s he took a chance and, encouraged by a federal government program, relocated along with many other Indians to seek urban employment in California. Barely surviving a horrific traffic accident, Mihesuah eventually returned home to Oklahoma, where he has spent the last few decades fighting racism and attempts to take his familys land, eschewing local politics yet also taking many steps to reclaim and revitalize connections to his Comanche family and culture, past and present.Henry Mihesuah spoke at length about his life to his daughterinlaw, accomplished historian Devon Abbott Mihesuah, who has carefully researched and edited those hours of conversation into an engaging, detailed account that is at once honest, informative, and moving. Readers come to know and respect how one forthright Comanche man unyieldingly walks his own path in the modern world, the ways in which events big and small have affected him, and how, with his wife, family, land, strong opinions, and tough choices made along the way, Henry Mihesuah leads a happy and fulfilling life. Fight: Are You Willing to Pick a Fight with Evil? $13.91 Suit up for the ultimate fight There's a terrifying truth facing today's men, and it's caught many off guard. But once that first overwhelming challenge hits, the reality about evil becomes clear: "Every one of us is in a fight for our lives." The enemy is real-and so is the danger. But powerful forces convince us to ignore the spiritual war surrounding us. And that willing surrender ensures the total destruction of all we hold dear. But a new generation of God's men is beginning to engage with the tools and training to take the fight to the enemy and respond with boldness and duty. This book is the manual for recognizing the deceptions about doing true spiritual battle, realizing the roles men play at the front lines, and rescuing the captives from the enemy's stronghold. "It's been said that all evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Kenny excels at showing the bigger story we're engaged in. "Fight" is a must read for men to defeat the enemy where "each of us "live-in our marriages, our families, and all our spheres of influence." --Jim Weidmann, "The Family Night Guy," senior vp of Promise Keepers, and author of the Family Night Tool Chest series.
