If you have excess weight that you want to lose and you can't face the idea of going to a gym and something you could try is the Ab Circle Pro. This is a piece of home exercise equipment that seems to be on most of the shopping channels at the moment; it ticks a lot of boxes in that it is portable, easy-to-use and simple to put together, folding away neatly after use so that it can be stored under your bed or in the closet.
In the course of my research into the Ab Circle Pro, I have read a lot of reviews on it and these are coming through as very mixed, in that some people adore it and say it has worked really well for them and some people say it is a load of rubbish and doesn't work in that they don't feel the burn in their muscles. Being a Personal Trainer, people often say to me that they tried this exercise class or that exercise class but gave up as they thought it wasn't doing them any good, because they didn't "feel the burn" and weren't sore afterwards, or they only really felt the burn the first time they went to the class. Well, remember that you only really feel the burn when you start doing something that your muscles are not used to. Not feeling the burn doesn't mean the exercise is doing no good - all exercise is good.
To prove this point, I recently asked one of my Personal Training clients to attend a class that she wouldn't normally go to. She is very fit and in tremendous shape as she has been training with me for three years, and she thought she done every single combination of exercise that could be devised. She did the class and enjoyed it, even though it was aimed at beginners and there was nobody there even approaching her fitness levels. When I saw her again two days later, she told me that she'd really ached from doing the class and that she hated me! I pointed out that if she attended the same class again, she wouldn't ache the next time because her muscles were quick to respond to the demands placed upon them.
To go back to the Ab Circle Pro, if you don't feel anything in your waist, make sure you are properly positioned on the machine, with your weight forward and I would suggest you concentrate on the sliding movement and really think about squeezing your muscles on each side as the knee pads glide round the track. It takes practice to engage these muscles correctly, as I am always saying to newcomers in my Pilates classes, some of whom insist that they simply do not possess the muscle that I am telling them to target! Yes they do; it simply is not responding to them calling on it, but trust me, in time it will, and the same goes for working out on the Ab Circle Pro - stick with it and you will get results.
