Strobe:
The invention of the strobe diminished the need for the old rotating light. The power it produced made it visible for miles and made the police, Firemen, Emts, and rescuers safer while setting idly on the side of the road but like with everything else it is not 100% effective. The bulbs do not last as long they drain more power than its worth and have been linked to seizures and other health problems. In most early kinds of strobes the wire would get so hot when running it would melt or catch fire.
Warning: Strobe lights contain large amounts of energy and may cause an electrical shock even when they are not hooked up. You should never remove the casings over the light or do any work on them yourself.
LED:
With the invention of the LED light, the need or use for strobe lights is slowly disappearing. Even thought LED's are kind of new yet to the game they offer a better alternative for flashing lights. They are highly visible miles in advance and use less than half the electricity of a full out Strobe light. The bulbs last longer. They are more durable in weather related conditions than a strobe and are more cost effective in the long run. The Police Departments have already seen the pro's in running LED lights and are in the transition of switching over. Many fire departments and Ambulance services have already made the transition.
Warning: Improper installation can cause equipment malfunctions in both lights and automobiles make sure a certified professional installs any accessory on your vehicle that needs to have power running to it.
