Leather Sectionals: 10 Reasons Why to Buy

Leather sectionals make great pieces of furniture for living rooms, family rooms or other gathering places for friends and families. There are a lot of reasons why this is so, but lets take a look, in no particular order, the top 10 reasons why I believe leather sectionals are one of the best furniture options available today.

  1. Leather is very durable and, on average, will outlast other upholstery materials four to one. Quality furniture today is a major purchase, so you want it to last a long time. Leather is the best way to go if you want to get optimum use for your money.
  2. Not only does leather last a long time, it looks good. It is resistant to fading, so it will maintain its natural coloring, and it takes forever to wear thin, plus leather is tear resistant. So even when leather sectionals are 10 years old, they will look a lot newer. Much of this age defying character is due to leather's natural elasticity.
  3. Leather sectionals stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This makes them very comfortable to use all year round. This means that they do not get sticky in hot weather - a common misconception by non-leather users.
  4. Leather is very easy to clean and is non-allergenic. If you spill something, just wipe it up. Dust is also easily wiped away, plus this polishes the leather, giving it a nice, shiny look as well as increasing the suppleness of your leather. You can annually apply a leather cleaner and conditioner, but this is optional.
  5. No two leather sectionals are identical, so your pieces will be unique. This is because the leather comes from cow hides, and no two are exactly the same. In the life of the cow, things happen. Such as getting snagged on barb wire, and these types of marks show up on leather furniture, giving it a natural and unique appearance.
  6. Leather sectionals will sit a lot of people, making them perfect for families. As a family of six, this is great! It means no lying on the floor for some of the kids.
  7. They have different seating options. Depending upon the configuration of your sectional, there is usually at least one recliner, sometimes a lounger, plus other seating going right on around the entire sectional.
  8. Teamed up with a large leather ottoman, it allows more people to sit in a more comfortable position. Lets face it, when watching a movie, you like to lounge. In our house, when someone calls the couch, they plan to lie down. With an ottoman, many people can sit around the sections, with their feet comfortably propped up.
  9. Many leather sectionals have a sofa bed, providing the perfect alternative to a guest room. Also great for sleep overs. After all, you know many of the kids will fall asleep long before the movie ends!
  10. Aesthetically, they are very pleasing. Leather comes in different grains, all of which feels pleasant on the skin, and it smells wonderful. Sitting on a leather sectional feels luxurious.

These are ten reasons why I like leather sectionals. So, if you are shopping around for new furniture, make sure you give it some consideration. I think that you will be very pleasantly surprised.

Theory of Elasticity

Theory of Elasticity

$32.49

The theory of elasticity developed as a science due to the necessity of having theoretical methods for calculating the strength of parts of structures and machines. At present the theory of elasticity is a branch of mathematical physics that must be at the finger tips both of engineers and scientists studying the strength of structures and machines. The book Theory of Elasticity is a textbook for students of higher technical schools of the Soviet Union. It contains matter on the theory of stresses, the geometrical theory of strain, the torsion of prismatic bars and the bending of plates. It sets forth the theoretical fundamentals of the solution of elasticity problems in terms of displacement and stresses and shows the general methods of solving problems in the theory of elasticity. The book considers plane problems in Cartesian and in polar coordinates. In conclusion the author deals with the variational methods of elasticity. Mathematical elasticity

Mathematical elasticity

$125

This volume is a thorough introduction to contemporary research in elasticity, and may be used as a working textbook at the graduate level for courses in pure or applied mathematics or in continuum mechanics. It provides a thorough description (with emphasis on the nonlinear aspects) of the two competing mathematical models of three-dimensional elasticity, together with a mathematical analysis of these models. The book is as self-contained as possible.

Linear Elasticity

Linear Elasticity

Linear elasticity is the mathematical study of how solid objects deform and become internally stressed due to prescribed loading conditions. Linear elasticity relies upon the continuum hypothesis and is applicable at macroscopic (and sometimes microscopic) length scales. Linear elasticity is a simplification of the more general nonlinear theory of elasticity and is a branch of continuum mechanics. The fundamental linearizing assumptions of linear elasticity are: infinitesimal strains or small deformations (or strains) and linear relationships between the components of stress and strain. In addition linear elasticity is only valid for stress states that do not produce yielding. These assumptions are reasonable for many engineering materials and engineering design scenarios. Linear elasticity is therefore used extensively in structural analysis and engineering design, often through the aid of finite element analysis Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 68 Publication Date: 2010/08/03 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.16 inches

Symplectic Elasticity

Symplectic Elasticity

$105

This book explains the new solution methodology by discussing plane isotropic elasticity, multiple layered plate, anisotropic elasticity, sectorial plate and thin plate bending problems in detail. A number of existing problems without analytical solutions within the framework of classical approaches are solved analytically using this symplectic approach. Symplectic methodologies can be applied not only to problems in elasticity, but also to other solid mechanics problems. In addition, it can also be extended to various engineering mechanics and mathematical physics fields, such as vibration, wave propagation, control theory, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics.

A Primer in Elasticity

A Primer in Elasticity

This book presents the foundational issues of linear elasticity in a compact, unabridged manner; it is directed to mathematicians and physical scientists who care for approaching this classical subject with rigor and depth. There are four chapters: the first two illustrate, respectively, the concepts of deformation and strain and of force and stress; the third is devoted to a study of constitutive relations; the last discusses the posing of equilibrium problems. The emphasis is in the description of elasticity as a model whose construction calls for a delicate interplay between physics and mathematics. The conceptual links with general continuum mechanics are carefully indicated. It would not be easy to find in one other book a treatment of such issues as exact and linearized equilibria, the constitutive problems of classification and representation, internal constraints and material symmetries, elastic equilibrium with the Cauchy relations, and elastic equilibrium in the presence of internal constraints. The book can be be used to teach onesemester advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in elasticity theory to students in applied mathematics and engineering; for this purpose, it contains one hundred exercises of variable difficulty. The eikonal approximation is a method of approximation useful in wave scattering equations within the realms of quantum mechanics, optics, quantum electrodynamics, and partial wave expansionThe main advantage the eikonal approximation offers is that the equations reduce to a differential equation in a single variable. This reduction into a single variable is the result of the straight line approximation or the eikonal approximation which allows us to choose the straight line as a special direction. The early steps involved in the eikonal approximation in quantum mechanics are very closely related to the WKB approximation. The WKB approximation involves an expansion in terms of Plancks constant. It, like the eikonal approximation, reduces the equations into a differential equation in a single variable. But the difficulty with the WKB approximation is that this variable is described by the trajectory of the particle which, in general, is complicated. The advantage of the eikonal approximation is that the classical trajectory is a straight line. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
