What Equipment Is Best For Grip Strength?

Having a strong grip is a benefit to you whether you participate in sports or just want to be able to open a jar. To get the most out of your grip strength training you should have an assortment of grip strength equipment available. Listed below are some of the things you can make yourself or purchase.

Of course you need a set of hand grippers. If you are just starting out or you know you have weak grip strength, start out with a set from your local sports store. If you know you have a somewhat strong grip, order one of the really good ones like the “Captains of Crush” series.

Get a ball you can squeeze or one of those specially designed balls for grip strength. Not only do these help your strength, they supposedly help reduce stress.

For your pinch grip strength you might find something heavy that you can grasp with your fingers and pick up. It could be 2 barbell plates, a heavy rock or anything that is heavy enough to challenge you.

You need to work on the muscles that open the hand also. You can put some rubber bands around your fingers and try to open them, do a number of reps and sets. If you can get a wide mouth jar or bottle that you can fit your hand into you could fill it with dirt. Put your fingers into the mouth and spread your fingers to grip it and lift. Hold it for 5 to 10 seconds or more if you are stronger.
