Now there's a new way to keep you and your family cool this summer! Ankaka.com is introducing a new type of desk fan. To call it radical is an understatement- it hardly resembles a traditional fan at all. For one thing, it has no blades!
To be more specific, the blades are in the base, creating small, powerful stream of air, and when air passes through the slot onto a slightly angled circular tier of plastic, it creates a suction-like effect that increases the airflow. In other words, the unseen blades draw in air and 'amplify' it before propelling it forward as a smooth waft of air, rather than choppy bits of wind.
The "multiplier" part of the name refers to its great efficiency of operation. Thanks to these mechanical processes, it sends approximately 15 times more air at you than it actually has to drive through its own internal spinning turbine.
Of course, normal fans attain some of these effects, too, though they're more likely to suffer inefficiencies due to turbulence caused by the speed of the blades and the "open" air around it. Ankaka's new fan's turbine is enclosed in the body of the unit – like the handle of a magnifying glass.
Due to the absence of external blades, you get treated to a constant flow of air. A conventional fan actually uses a chopping motion to force air forward which can result in a ‘buffeting' sensation.
It is super quiet, and far more effective andefficient than the fan we've all become accustomed to in our home or office. Not to mention safer- there is no danger of children or pets getting their hands caught between the blades.
Ankaka's new fan boasts other advantages: Because it has no blades or grill, it is easier to clean. A simple cloth will suffice to keep your fan clean of dust and dirt. The speed of the fan is controlled by a dimmer switch, so the range of speed is virtually limitless, as opposed to a normal fan, which usually has about 3 speed settings at most.
Its form factor is quite different from previous fans and thanks to its cutting-edge design, is meant to be used throughout the house, and not just on your desk. It looks pretty good next to sleek high-tech devices such as HDTV's.
