The most used type of MMA gloves are bag gloves. These fight gloves are very much like boxing gloves except that the fingers are uncovered and the palm is open.

The way that the fingers are opened is what distinguishes fight gloves. In most MMA gloves, there are finger slots for the fingers and the fingers are covered only halfway. In quality fight gloves, the fingers go through smaller slots and there is a great deal of padding in the front of the fingers.

The same type of wrist wrap that secures other mixed martial arts gloves secures these gloves as well. The gloves also have impact resistant foam padding and gel enforced lining. Premium MMA gloves are larger than typical gloves of the same size, with very supple leather and excellent quality. The leather has a grainy texture and isn't smooth like most leather, which increases durability and contact wounds. The gloves are padded on the back of the hand, fingers, thumb and knuckles. The padding on the knuckles and fingers is about twice as hard as the padding on the back of the hand. The padding itself is high density foam and protects the hands and minimizes uncomfortable bulkiness. Quality fight gloves provide a sufficient amount of protection to shield the individual against the heavier focusing of striking other punching bags. There is a hinged thumb design on the bag MMA gloves that allows a full range of motion.

The actual fit of the gloves are somewhat on the big side. Although the MMA bag gloves feel quite large on the hands they are still comfortable when making a fist. They may not require wraps when hitting a bag. The MMA gloves are not stiff and feel somewhat worked in when first tried on. In addition, the fit is enhanced to be more comfortable by a professional pre-curved design.

To help one make a fist, there are mini finger bars which are different than a grip bar on each finger of the bag MMA gloves. The bag MMA gloves also have an inner lining that removes moisture to keep one's hand dry and comfortable. There are also embossed logos on the wrist wraps of the MMA gloves that are rather attractive as well as logos on the knuckles that will probably fade with use. The wrist warps themselves help to stabilize the wrist joint and provides adjustable but gentle pressure to keep the wrist locked in a safe position for a more comfortable MMA experience.

Bag MMA gloves are not as commonly used or as popular as other MMA gloves but are used by men, women and children and come in a wide range of sizes. They are typically priced between $20 and $80.
