Nunchaku is the weapon with two sticks and a chain, cord, rope connecting them. They originated from Okinawa as rice flails, it is believed. They are now used all over the world due to their versatility, mesmerizing display, and self-defence benefactors.
Different techniques are taught through different martial arts styles like Kobudo However, with these ancient techniques being base for freestyle training, many freestylers all over the globe have developed many unique techniques as the nunchakus truly have unlimited potential, you will now see aerial throws and more visually pleasing techniques.
This craze stemmed from Bruce Lee exhibiting their capabilities in his films, everyone know what a nun chuck is now. However them may say it - Nunchuck, num chuck, nunchuka! The real name is nunchaku but the others are easier to say for some people.
You can get various wooden, aluminium, metal, foam nunchakus and telescopic ones. Also speed chucks which are lightweight and have a smaller chain, and flashing chucks for display. You can also get fire chucks, but more often than not people just add the fire lighting material to the end of their own chucks and get them going.
People use nunchaku for: personal martial arts training, creative inspiration, self-defence strategies, anger release, stress release,, accomplishment when learning new techniques, nunchuck displays in raves, and many more reasons. (I use them cause it's good fun showing off in the park.;))
You can spin them in many ways, manipulate them, change hands, change grip, roll them over your hand/wrist in many ways, strike, block, continue motions in 360 directions back and forth and throw them about!
