Medifast Weight Loss Success – Setting Yourself Up To Succeed Rather Than Fail
I have to be honest. I've had more experience with weight loss failure than with weight loss success. I've been on countless diets that have failed. However, after being on medifast for a while, I've lost a substantial amount of weight which shows no signs of slowing down. Here is what I feel you need to be successful in losing weight in the long term: Medifast is my diet of choice, but I suppose these tips are applicable for any diet.
Make Food Choices As Painless As Possible: Many or my previous weight loss attempts failed because I chose very restrictive diets that would've been very difficult long term. I love carbs and snacks, which is probably why Atkins was torturous for me. Likewise if you're a happy meat eater, a vegetarian diet may be difficult. And, if you hate to cook, the Mediterranean diet may not be your best choice. Any weight loss program will require some change in eating habits, but try to choose a plan that lets you continue to enjoy the types of foods that you prefer in a method that doesn't force you outside of your comfort zone.
Make Exercise Fun (And Moderate) Rather Than A Chore (Where You're Trying To Do Too Much:) I firmly believe that any long term successful weight loss program needs at least some regular exercise. This is often not as bad as it sounds. I'll admit I've always hated exercise, but that's because I was forcing myself to hang out at the gym and dutifully complete circuit training that was boring over time. Now, I power walk along side my daughter as she roller blades. We chat, laugh and catch up. It's brought us closer together and I very much look forward to my work out now. I also put on a weight vest while I garden, clean house or run errands. This adds a work out to things I'd be doing anyway so I'm not always having to find extra time to work out.
Pick The Support That Will Propel Rather Than Slow You: Some people like liberal one on one or group support during weight loss. Some introverted, private individuals prefer to seek out support only from close friends or family members. I am of this type. I do not like having the responsibility to check in with anyone else but myself or those closest to me (which is why diets like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers where you need to weight in would not be a good fit for me.) Of course, I enjoy and cherish the support I get from my family and friends, and I make liberal use of the free online medifast support and resources. Chose whichever level of support feels right to you, knowing that resources and support are there for the taking.
I hope these tips have helped. However, the best tip I can give you is to just get started. Just focus on making one good decision that you can live with long term. This decision will give rise to a string of repetitive decisions that will really make a huge difference in your life. Waiting or procrastinating only delays your success.
