Running is one of the best forms of exercise out there. However, a lot of people don't really like it. The reason for this usually varies among people, but some of the common ones are that people find it boring, that people find it too hard, or that people just don't like it in general. If you're one of those people, then you should highly consider other forms of exercise, such as biking, swimming, hiking, or even walking. They are all very valid forms of exercise and can help you to burn calories just like running.
Remember, it's important that you get at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week. So, if that means you just have to get out and go for a walk, then that's much better than doing nothing at all. A lot of people make the mistake in thinking that if they're not doing something strenuous that will caused them to burn 1000 calories and it's not worth their effort or time. Nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, exercise is better than no exercise, all the time.
Once you realize that you can exercise doing just about anything, you might try to find something that matches your interests. For example, a lot of people find swimming to be very enjoyable and so they can do that in order to burn calories every day. Maybe you're someone that really likes the outdoors and enjoy going on long hikes. That can be a fantastic way to burn calories and you lose a lot of weight and build some muscle in your legs. Biking is the same way, though the only thing you to consider is that you need a big bike whenever you wanted it.
So anyone can exercise and lose weight and stay healthy, all it takes is you're willing to get up and do it rather than making excuses.

In our experiments, we determined the effects of exercise on critical mediators of neuroplasticity (brainderived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), insulin like growth factor (IGFI), synapsinI, phosphorylated cyclic AMP response element binding protein (pCREB) and serum corticosterone) in a rat model of middle cerebral artery stroke. It was clear the intensity and duration of exercise had differential effects on proteins that affect neuroplasticity after stroke. Furthermore, animals receiving running exercise preceding a skilled reaching task recovered better than animals that did not. Endurance exercise appears to have an enhancing effect on learning of a subsequent reaching skill mediated in part by structural changes within the brain. This phenomenon may be beneficial when arranging therapeutic activities during stroke rehabilitation.
