The Physiology Of The Pectoral Girdle Muscle
The pectoral girdle muscle basically consists of two sectional muscles namely, the major pectoralis and the minor pectoralis. These two sectional divisions of the muscle group are to found in most bodybuilding literature. However, recent physiology experts have come up with distinct divisions of the pectoral girdle that includes both the serratus and the intercostals as parts constituted in the pectoral girdle muscle group. Conventionally, it is more logical to identify the intercostals and the serratus as distinct muscles separated from the pectoral girdle.
Adopting such conventions of physiology, this article will therefore constrict its consideration to the major and minor pectoralis. The pectoral girdle is a major muscle group since it covers a very large body area. To begin with, the major pectoralis bears the main pectoral function of projecting the arms to the front of your chest, separate from the torso, as happens during most hugging motions. The major pectoralis carries most pressure of the arm movement due to its anatomical placing. The major pectoralis is also involved heavily during pressing activities especially during the exercises that are performed when arms are held perpendicular to upper part of the body.
It is the major pectoralis that makes it possible to lift or press against heavier weights perpendicular to the torso, with slightly projected hands than when lifting or pressing against weights during cable crossovers and flyes. The major pectoralis, when recruited into the exercise, is able to bear more pressure from the weight, the pressure that would otherwise been too much for the arms.
The major pectoralis is anatomically attached at the very end of your clavicle bone and very near the shoulder. It runs straight down to your solar plexus so as to attach to your rib cage to the front. From there on, the major pectoralis then spreads outwards all along your rib cage. Contrary to popular believe, the denser mass of the pectoral muscle is found on the inside and not on the outside of the rib cage covering. Basically, this is why it very hard to train your outer chest for it can only be stimulated indirectly as opposed to direct workout.
On the other hand, the minor pectoralis is firmly attached at the inside section of your clavicle bone. The minor pectoralis runs all the way down to the mid of your ribcage. It is partially coated or covered by your major pectoralis. Among the body builders with extensive muscle networks, defined to perfection, the two sections of the pectoral girdle can easily be marked out. In fact, to check whether you are going anywhere with your objective of getting fully ripped, constantly check whether you can trace a distinct striated line running between the visible section of the minor pectoralis and the thick section of the major pectoralis.
Training the minor pectoralis is a misnomer. The minor pectoralis is only recruited into the workout by such motions as moving arms upwards and inwards. The stimulation is also minor and thus the growth rate. That is why you must endeavor to train the minor pectoralis using a variety of intense exercises all of which must be based on the principle, but working from all the different angles possible. The objective must be to place different levels of workload stress on it. This equally applies to both the pectoralis.

Girdle $62.13 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The word girdle originally meant a belt. In modern English the term girdle is most commonly used for a form of womens foundation wear that replaced the corset in popularity. Historically and in anthropology, the girdle can be a scanty beltshaped textile for men and/or women, worn on its own, not holding a larger garment in place, and less revealing than the loincloth, as was used by Minoan pugilists. Constructed of elasticized fabric and sometimes fastened with hook and eye closures, the modern girdle is designed to enhance a womans figure. Most openbottom girdles extend from the waist to the upper thighs. In the 1960s, these models fell from favor and were to a great extent replaced by the panty girdle. The panty girdle resembles a tight pair of athletic shorts. Both models of girdles usually include suspender clips to hold up stockings. Pectoral Girdle $84.44 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The pectoral girdle or shoulder girdle is the set of bones which connects the upper limb to the axial skeleton on each side. It consists of the clavicle and scapula in humans and, in those species with three bones in the pectoral girdle, the coracoid. Some mammalian species (e.g. the dog and the horse) have only the scapula. In humans, the only joints between the shoulder girdle and axial skeleton are the sternoclavicular joints on each side. No joint exists between each scapula and the rib cage; instead the muscular connection between the two permits relatively great mobility of the shoulder girdle in relation to the pelvic girdle. In those species having only the scapula, no joint exists between the forelimb and the thorax, the only attachment being muscular.
