How to Burn Calories and Exercise to Burn Calories
Calorie is a form of heat measurement. It is the amount of energy that is required to raise one milliliter of water by one degree Celsius.
Calorie measures the amount of heat or energy that is released when you burn food down.
Your weight x distance = energy used walking. Time does not matter as much as distance.
If you speed up to walking a mile in 13 minutes or less, you will be burning more calories per mile.
But for most beginning walkers, it is best to increase the distance before working on speed. A simple rule of thumb is 100 calories per mile for a 180 pound person.
Burn Extra Calories Every Day
1. Always take the stairs, avoid elevators and escalators.
2. Park further away from your destination than usual.
3. Try to be active while watching TV, even if it's just doing housework
4. Stand and let someone else have your seat when riding the bus or subway.
5. Go out and walk, roller blade, or play pool (something active) instead of going out to dinner.
Calories Burned Jogging
Jogging is probably the easiest exercise to do that gives a substantial calorie burn rate, so it's naturally tempting to know the number of calories burned jogging.
When you know this number of calories, it's easier to check the amount of exercise you need to shed weight at a manageable pace.
But it isn't that simple - it's actually easy to be misled by the numbers, since the amount of burned calories varies from person to person.
Exercise to Burn Calories
Christopher Wharton, PhD, a certified personal trainer and researcher with the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at
Yale University, put it simply: "The more time spent exercising and the more vigorous the exercise, the more calories will be burned."
Indeed, obesity expert George Bray, MD, with the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La., believes that taking a brisk walk every day is probably the single most important piece of advice for anyone wanting to burn more calories.
Burn Calories at Home
1. Cycling - Most of the people have a bicycle and if you don't have one you can borrow easily from your friends & colleagues. This will not only help you burn calories but it also provide cardiovascular benefits. So go on and get started on your bicycle and burn those extra calories.
2. Rope jumping - On an average as per the research one can burn almost more then 1000 calories per hour from rope jumping.
This is not only cost effective but once can take it anywhere with them if you are a frequent traveler and utilize it to the maximum. best option available in ropes are the vinyl ones as they move faster and so help you move fast and give maximum benefits.
3. Swimming - People who have pools at their places or can also head out to the sea shore for some swimming. Swimming can burn more then 1500 calories per hour.
