How to Learn Self Defense from Home
It is quite unfortunate, but accurate to say that we live in a violent world. Predators are lurking in the shadows at all hours of the day and night in every single city in the world. But if you learn self defense, you will no longer have to live in fear when walking down a dark street at night. And if you choose to learn with a self defense DVD, it won't cost you valuable time and effort, as you can learn from your own home and learn at your own pace.
Having the option of learning self defense from the comfort of your own home is a great motivator for anyone who has considered it in the past, but hasn't been able to follow through. No longer will you have to move your schedule around to accommodate weekly classes or cancel other appointments just so you can attend. With a self defense DVD, you can learn all of the skills and tactics necessary to properly defend yourself without cutting into time with friends or family. A leader in the self defense world is Chris Pizzo, who founded the Close Combat Company. After his own brush with death due to a violent assault, Pizzo decided to dedicate his life to teaching everyday people how to defend themselves in times of need.
Pizzo also believes that absolutely anyone can learn self defense. It doesn't matter if you are 300 pounds or 90 pounds, because the methods that he teaches are not dependent on size or muscle. He will teach you that absolutely anyone, no matter their physical health, can easily learn how to fend off a violent attacker. You will even learn how to take down an attacker that is armed with a gun or a knife. Although this is of course an extreme example, it can happen. And it can happen to anyone.
Another great aspect to learning at home is that you have the benefit of having your very own personal instructor who is available any time, day or night. And if there is a specific tactic that you are having difficulty with, you can rewind it and keep on practising. It is a great way to learn for anyone, even if you have no prior knowledge of self defense. And it is something that once you know, you will know forever. Along with learning specific tactics to ward off offenders, you will also learn how to prepare yourself mentally. Half of the battle is being in the right mindset to outwit your opponent, which is something you will learn from a self defense DVD.
Don't wait until you have your own brush with death to start taking the power back in your life. Violent crime can strike at any time, and there couldn't be a better time than the present to start learning how to defend yourself. No longer will you need to fear walking around after dark, because you will have the tools and skills needed to defend yourself in any number of situations.

Return to the 50 Defense (DVD) $39.99 With J.T. Curtis,John Curtis Christian School (LA) Head Coach,2006 USA Today National HS Coach of the Year;21 State HS Football titlesCoach Curtis has seen a return to the 3-man front 50 defense in recent years. His presentation covers technique, linebacker play and secondary concepts, and is a good tool for the coach looking into the 50 defense. Curtis emphasizes the outside linebackers in the defense as drop defenders, which opens up many opportunities. A quick nose guard that can guard the run and pass brings an anchor to the defense. When defensive tackles play tight, they must still be able to contain. The two ends must anchor the line of scrimmage and play a tight, 7 technique. The inside linebacker lines up on the outside shoulder of the guard and needs to be in an aggressive, downhill, attack position. Teamwork is essential, as the front must keep people off the linebackers so they are free to make plays. The next teaching progression deals with the split backs, both linebackers will be in slow read. The guts of the defense are the three down linemen. Read attack is based off the release of the linemen you are lined up against. In the secondary, the strong safety gets his run read from the tight end's release. 58 minutes. 2007. |

3-3-5 Bomber Defense (DVD) $39.99 With Steve Specht,St. Xavier (OH) HS Head Coach;2007 & 2005 Ohio Division I state champions.ESPN's Elite #2 High School Team in 2007Ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today following the 2005 season This 3-3-5 defensive package has a simple philosophy of playing out of an odd front. The odd front is beneficial because you can angle and slant into a reduction. This defense also makes it easier to fit personnel into the scheme and allows you to adjust to formation. Ultimately, Coach Specht likes to keep it simple and play fast. With the 3-3-5 there can be five or six defensive backs in the game at all times. The base defensive alignment has the ends head up on the tackles with the backers stacked up behind the down lineman. The safeties will align 7 yards deep to the shade of the tight end. The secondary creates an illusion that you are five across and 7 yards deep. The key feature of this defense is the "adjuster," who moves around a lot and is usually the most complete player on the team. Against the Spread, the Jet and Will backer move on the line, giving it a five-man look. Other adjustments Specht covers are the 'Sparrow', 'Bluff', 'Falcon', 'I Bluff' and 'Ninja' front. This DVD is jammed with diagrams and teaching points for this highly effective defensive scheme. 53 minutes. 2007. |
