When you only eat 2-3 or even 4 times a day, then you will never reach your maximum potential. The meals need to be small, not huge meals.
- The habit of counting calories is necessary, especially if you want to lose 20 pounds in a month. A calorie deficit is needed to lose fat, so in your case every calorie is extremely important. The average calorie requirement for women, who want to lose fat is 1500 calories and for men it is 2100 calories. Don`t get too exited and cut your calories very low, because then your metabolism slows down.
- Never skip meals, especially breakfast. A lot of people don`t have the time to eat breakfast or simply leave it out, because they think it is helpful. But in fact skipping meals decreases your metabolism and therefore you burn less calories. Of course you should always eat a balanced, nutritious meal.
Lose 20 pounds in a month - training tips
- Weight training is extremely important and if it is not part of your training program, then change that. Weight training helps you maintain your muscle mass, which in turn speeds up your metabolic rate, therefore you burn more calories. Lifting weights 3 times a week for beginners is very good.
- Cardio training is of course essential as well. Your cardio workouts should not be long and boring. It is much more beneficial if you keep your workouts somewhere around 20-45 minutes and increase the intensity. When you are doing cardio, then your target is to burn calories. The more calories you burn, the quicker you can lose 20 pounds.
- It is always better to burn calories with exercise, then it is to cut calories with food. Like I mentioned before, dropping your calories too low will result in a slower metabolism. Use every opportunity you can to burn calories and never take any shortcuts.
