Harley Davidson make iconic motorcycles and a bi-product of that is iconic riders. There is definitely a look to being a Harley Rider and it all starts with the clothing.
You can buy specific Harley Davidson clothing (from helmets all the way down to boots) but it can be more expensive than plain non-branded clothing, and with the ability to buy and sew patches onto your clothing, it can work out financially better to do this. Not only will it work out better financially, but you also get your own custom jacket style to boot too!
Harley Davidson patches comes in all different types of style, shape, size, color, and they are affordable.There are times when you can get special patches other than a Harley Davidson patch. There are certain times in a season (summer) where a lot of bikers do a run and normally it would be for charity.
So what Harley riders do is get into a big group and ride from one city to another destination (another city or big event) and they normally pay around twenty dollars to the organizer (part if which goes to charity) and when you finish the ride you turn in your ticket and you can get a meal and the patch for completing that run.
A run is like cruising in a car with a bunch of your friends riding next to you if you don't know what a run is. Of course the more patches you have on your jacket the better because it shows either what you been doing or just looks cooler because of the way it is customized. If you're planning on getting patches on your jacket, you might as well get one to support the bike that you ride, or charities in need.
Patches for motorcycle jackets are also popular with motorcycle clubs as an identifying feature. They are like tattoos but for your jacket. The Hells angels are the most famous for these spotting 'Hells Angels' along with the club/city name group they are with. Whilst not specific to Harley's, Harley Davidson motorcycles are a favorite and will often be on the jacket too, in big proud letters.
You should be aware of authenticity when purchasing Harley Davidson patches, it is quite easy for a skilled embroider to produce a replica. Harley stores are the best place to find an original and usually have the latest designs in stock. As well as physical stores, you can also purchase them from online stores. There are many motorcycle and Harley enthusiast internet stores where you can pick these up from at a good price.
Harley patches are usually styled with traditional Harley designs such as bald eagles, flames, hogs, the Harley Davidson signature and shield. Sizes vary enormously, from a small lower arm patch to a full size back patch. Colors are usually the black and orange affair although alternate patches become available from charitable events. These are usually smaller ones so you can fit many on your jacket and other clothing.
