Do you know what happens during a Lap Band procedure?
The procedure for abdominal band is performed laparoscopically which means that the operation Endoscopic surgery is performed, also called non-invasive surgery. This makes the lap band procedure a less invasive surgical interventions that conventional surgical weight loss. This results in less trauma to the body and a faster healing time.
During the operation, Patients are put under anesthesia. The surgeon will begin the operation by making small incisions, called ports in the wall of the stomach for insertion surgical instruments and a system of fiber optic cable connected to a light source to illuminate the operative field. In the incision a small video camera is placed with the surgeon while the operation is held. A strip of silicone elastomer is then wrapped around the upper stomach, then locked in a ring.
The section of the stomach above the band is called "pocket of the stomach. "The stomach pouch is designed to have a maximum size of an ounce. By reducing the size of this part of the stomach, the procedure will be the turn of tape to help you become full of very small meals.
In the lap band procedure, tubes are produced in association with the web of a port that is placed just under the skin. The group is usually left empty during the operation and will not be filled with saline for the first four to six weeks. This gives your stomach enough time to heal. It also gives plenty of time for patients change new routines to eat after surgery.
The band works as a silicone balloon and later is filled with saline through the port, form a new small stomach. The amount of food in the stomach is now reduced because of the new small stomach pouch formed by the band. But the patient do not feel hungry for the reason that the stomach is full. When food intake is reduced, the body will use fat stores instead of excess food. In this way, the weight loss is achieved.
Later, the doctor can adjust the amount of saline in the band making it possible for allow exit from the pocket of the stomach shrunk over time so that the fullness will increase. It also allows the band to open slightly if there are difficulties eating appropriate foods.
The lap band adjustments are done in minutes. The adjustment process can help manage weight loss. Lap band procedure is the only method of weight loss surgery that makes this possible. If the band is too loose, weight loss will not be enough. Adding more salt will reduce the available size of the stomach pouch and reduce quantity of food leading into the stomach. If weight loss starts too fast, so the saline may be removed to reduce the dietary restrictions.
