Arts Tai Chi

Despite having different characteristics and style, all forms of Tai Chi Chuan have the same training principle which is the execution of relaxed actions to create a state of softness. This is further accumulated to produce firmness where forming a state of firmness and softness complements each other.
Within Tai Chi Chuan the traditional weapons used for training include knifes, swords, walking sticks, and staffs. The shape, the weight and the characteristics of each weapon used during Tai Chi Chuan determines its most effective combat usage. When a practitioner is in combat training, their objective is to be light and fast on their feet while effectively using their weapon against their opponent. When sparing the idea is to out maneuver the opponent with a movement that includes winding and angling. Traditionally, Jians have only had heavy wooden or hard metal weapons to train with. They would need to limit their sparring during training to slow, gentle choreographed drills in order not to accidentally injure each other.
Using a superior foam sword that has been made to accurately resemble the original weapon allows the martial arts practitioner to properly train without the threat of injury. The foam sword would not only be accurate in its superior build quality, but in its shape, weight and tip control. This sword will allow the trainee to understand and accurately portray the authentic form of Chinese swordsmanship when given the ability to spar the way they Tai Chi Chuan was meant.
For a superior foam weapon for use in any marital art, sport or LARP setting, there is a Canadian company who specialize in creating foam weapons that are superior in durability, realistic looking weapons, maintenance free, weather resistant and latex free.

What is `Tai Chi'? $18.95 This book grew out of a question one of the author's students asked. The answer proved to be longer than either teacher or student could have anticipated. As he looks at the complex art of 'Tai Chi', the author answers questions such as why, unlike in other martial arts, 'Tai Chi' has no gradings; how hard you should try; and how to make the most of your teacher. A wide range of material is covered, including fundamental points about the mechanics of movement and the 'energetic' aspects of practice, as well as the relationship between body, mind and spirit that emerges. The author also provides answers to questions that even experienced practitioners may not have thought to ask, such as what are the levels of self-defense in 'Tai Chi'? How do I refine and develop my 'Tai Chi'? What is the difference between method and technique? How do I put principles into practice?. This insightful book covers all aspects of 'Tai Chi', answering questions that are beyond the scope of many classes. It will be of interest to anyone beginning 'Tai Chi' or Qi Gong, as well as to more experienced practitioners at all levels, practitioners of other martial arts, and friends and relatives of Tai Chi" players who wonder what all the fuss and enthusiasm is about. Tai Chi Connections $33.62 Martial Arts writer John Luopos follows up his classic EXPLORING TAI CHI with this manual, which takes students further into the ancient practice. Tai Chi is a style of meditation through movement, combined with a form of martial arts that emphasizes using an opponent`s own force against him. This book focuses more on the second aspect, though the meditation element plays a key part. Arrows of movement are drawn on a series of black and white photographs to indicate the direction of intent, grounding, and how to throw opponents through the use of their own attacking force. This is a nicely designed, unpretentious, hands-on guidebook that should become a dog-eared favorite for those serious about the art. |
