Arm Strength Exercise

Golf swing drills and increasing your golf swing speed takes smart training. You see in order to speed up the motion of your hits you have got to have an effective core strengthening program in place. This is exactly why I have included 2 tremendous golf strength training drills here for you to assist in your driving and club head performance. Read on if I have your attention.

Golf Swing Speed Exercises!

1. Kettlebell Swings: If you are going to improve your golf driver swing speed then you have got to learn how to tame the iron kettlebell swing first! Before you swing to hit the big booming drives on the golf course you have got to swing the ancient kettlebell! This is a tremendously dynamic strength lift designed to strengthen your big core muscles and promote mobility at the same time.

In order to pull this off you have got to have the availability of a single bell of moderate resistance first. Now the key to your success with this lift is making sure that your technique is sound and that you are getting the most out of the lift itself. To begin the lift simply stand with your feet at about shoulder width distance apart in length. From here squat and pick the bell up allowing it to hang at your groin. Next, you are going to start swinging the kettlebell back and forth in an arc like motion by constantly and smoothly flexing and extending at both your hips and knees. As you do this allow the bell to build momentum and forcefully breathe as you swing the bell up from between your legs. Make sure to keep your abs tight with every forceful repetition. You should keep your shoulders retracted and make sure to lock out at both your hips and knees at the top of the arc. Practice strict form before trying to progress to a heavier bell or set of bells. Your golf swing speed just got an upgrade!

2. The Kettlebell Get Up: In order for you to have a fast golf swing you have got to work on the development of your core, hips, glutes, and shoulders. Along with hitting these muscle groups you have got to be able to train them to be mobile in the process of being strong. This is why I want to introduce to you the single arm kettlebell get up or turkish get up.

The single arm kettlebell get up is a very dynamic and fluent lift when it is properly executed. This exercise is done by you lying on the ground on your back with the kettlebell above your head and standing up to your feet and then returning to the ground. This sounds simple enough, but trust me it is challenging.

To execute this lift you will start out on your back with the bell raised above your head and your arm at a perpendicular angle to the floor. Your arm will stay at this angle throughout the entire lift. For the sake of this article lets assume you are executing the lift with your right arm. Lying on the ground at this point with the right arm raised with bell in hand make sure that your right knee is bent and that your right foot is flat on the ground just outside of your hip. From here simply start to tighten your abs and begin rolling onto your left side distributing and supporting your body weight on your left elbow. Keep your eyes on the bell above your head the entire time. Next, simply move again to transition your weight from your left elbow onto your left hand and lock your shoulder into place.

Now once you have gotten into this position simply utilize your right leg to help move and shift your body weight into place. At this point you are ready to stand up. You can "get up" by supporting your weight on your knee or by simply standing up with both feet planted from a squat position. Either way is your choice, but just make sure that you are comfortable and balanced in doing so. Once you have stood up to your feet then just make sure to reverse the entire process to return to the original lying position. Your golf swing muscles are now getting a serious tune up!

Another exercise that strengthens the lower back and gluts is the "Superman" drill. The simple foam roller can be used to stretch the IT band in your leg. By rolling your thigh over the roller, your knees, back and arm will benefit. The spin stretch is executed by using the foam roller also. Balance is enhanced by working with the Erickson balance pad. Dumbbell exercises are shown to strengthen shoulders, arms and biceps. These exercises can help any player with his throwing ability. Leg weights, rubber tubing and medicine ball exercises can be incorporated into this workout routine. Other important stretches are the hip flexor, glut stretch, groin stretch, sleeper stretch and hamstring stretch.
